# mark_content_unposted

> Records that posted content has been taken down: sets status='taken_down' and unposted_at, and keeps posted_url and posted_at so the history survives.

Records that posted content has been taken down: sets status='taken\_down' and unposted\_at, and keeps posted\_url and posted\_at so the history survives. This is a RECORDING; Citable does not remove anything from the platform itself.

For BLOG content it also submits the URL to IndexNow, so search engines drop it sooner.

Use this when:

* The content was live (mark\_content\_posted was called) and has now been removed, and its URL no longer resolves.

Skip when:

* The content was never marked posted. That's an error.
* The page is still live. Remove it first, then record it.

Idempotent: re-calling keeps the first unposted\_at. Calling mark\_content\_posted again later (a re-publish) clears it.
